6 Days with so many nerves! - Mamavation Monday

6 days to go and I'm so nervous! 6 days until I compete in an Olympic Triathlon. 6 days and all my training will come into play.

I'm totally freaking out, but so excited for how far I've come in 3 months. I never imagined that I would be able to just hop on my bike and go for a 25-mile ride. It's been 15 years since I've owned a bike. And, I can now go in the water and feel comfortable. I know how to swim. I'm not very fast, but I can swim!

My biggest concern is not finishing the bike portion in time and getting pulled off the road. I know it's a possibility, but I'm still going to try. The race leader said we would still be able to come back and finish the running portion. I'm in it to finish!

This week, we are supposed to taper our training. I'm going to still do my swimming, biking and running, but not at the same intensity. Hydration and sleep are very important before the race. Lots of sleep and water, but not at the same time.

For those who don't know, this is my first high endurance event. I'm doing it as a member of Team In Training and raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I've had 3 very close family members die from blood cancers so this is very personal for me. I would never try to attempt a Triathlon as my first event if I weren't doing it for charity.

Go Team!

SISTA OF THE WEEK: And a BIG congratulations to Pamela M. Kramer of @PamelaMKramer for being the Sista of the Week!

Thanks to Subway for sponsoring this week's blogging carnival at Mamavation. I love the veggie sandwiches! They were my go-to-meal when I was pregnant!

  1. good luck on your event i want pictures and a story about what happened. I know you can finish and I admire you for doing this your an inspiration to us all

  2. So exciting for you!! Very cool. Can't wait to hear about it. Do you have a speedometer? I've found that since I have my garmin, I know how fast I have to go MPH in order to get the time I want. How long do they give you to do that distance?

If you don't finish the bike portion, try not to be too down on yourself though. it ROCKS that you are doing this, period. Best of luck!!!

  3. Have fun with your TNT event. I did TNT 6 years ago and know they have trained and prepped you well. Stick to what you have been taught and you will do well. Your group captain/leader will help you get through it even if you are hesitant. I can't wait to read about how well you did.

  4. That is so exciting!! All your hard training is going to be put to use for a great cause. Have fun and I wouldn't worry about times. It's your first and when you finish, you will finish, you will have a time to beat for the next Tri!! Best of luck in the up coming 6 weeks!!

  5. I know you'll finish but just having the confidence and courage to enter at all is more than I can say about myself. Good Luck and I can't wait to hear how it goes!!!

  6. I am so, so, so, so excited for your tri. I can't wait to read/hear all about it. Don't worry about time, you've been preparing for a long time and it sounds like you've been prepping properly. Good luck!

  7. I'm nervous for you. Not that you won't do well but just those jittery nerves. I've got 10 days left to train myself for the Spartan Race. I'm starting to freak out. Good luck!!!!
